HONG KONG
Wall Residence
2022-2023
Residential
Floor Area: 281 sq.m
Originally built in 1979, this property was re-mastered with interconnecting split-level floors to create an open plan homestead, with a free flow of light, air and ambience. The initial strategy, therefore, was to strip back the interior to its structural skeleton to envision a more cohesive flow of energy through the building.
The family brief was also to create a top floor primarily for the children, with interconnecting bedrooms and a large common room for creativity and study; a place for making ideas blossom. Annexed to this is a conservatory for relaxation, but also a pied-a-terre for grandparents to stay.
At the other end of the building, vertically, is the master bedroom suite with its own private outdoor terrace, a safe haven for the parents.
In between, the home is devised as a series of social experiences; from a 14-person formal dining; a hi bench cat’s table; an integrated kitchen with central island; double height living room; a trampoline terrace; gym, sauna & ice bath suite; and a BBQ back courtyard complete with circular fire pit and passion fruit vines.
